Smart meters are bringing one of the biggest changes to the energy infrastructure of the country.  Come along to find out: what a smart meter is; how it works; and how the national roll-out is taking place for residential consumers.  We’ll be doing some myth-busting as well as identifying potential barriers for vulnerable consumers and looking the obligations held by energy suppliers and how to protect consumers.

By the end of the session learners should be able to:

  • Understand what the smart meter roll-out is and know where to source information from
  • Understand what a smart metering system does and its impact for consumers
  • Be aware of the potential barriers which may be faced by vulnerable consumers
  • Be aware of the obligations and responsibilities held by the energy companies and how to escalate non-compliance
